Welcome to Raychem Fishing ClubRaychem (Rodbourne) LagoonFormally used as a reservoir for supplying steam trains with water on their way in and out of Swindon Station the lagoon is a long lake which is shallow at one end and deep at the other, where the remains of the old pump house remain. The lagoon is sandwiched between the railway embankment and Cheney Manor Industrial Estate in Rodbourne. Formally the “Raychem & Square D” Angling Club, the lake is now run by a dedicated committee under the title Raychem Angling Club. Fishing from 30 numbered, purpose built platforms along one bank, whilst similar in appearance, each provides a slightly different swim. Water depth varies from swim to swim and each has slightly different underwater ledges. The brave can chose to fish into clearings on the far bank and the lilies and reed beds to either sides of the platforms can also turn up some treats. There is also a large disabled platform accessed directly from the car park and also room for fishing in the far corner of the car park. Raychem Fishing club has invested considerably over the years in restocking of the lake and can now boast one of the widest range of species in the Swindon area. A full list of known species and average and top weights are listed in the fish stock section of the website. Raychem Angling Club believes that fishing should be available to as many people as possible. We understand that the make-up of the UK anglers has and continues to change and we aim to continue providing a club with a lake that can accommodate anglers of all descriptions. We are not a "match lake" and we are not a "carp pond", we are a locally run club with a membership open to anyone who wishes to join and can abide by the rules that we have set. The Lagoon was recently featured on the BBC under the guidance of the Environment Agency. Please be sure to familiarise yourself with the club rules before fishing. |
