Carp Angling Carp in the Lagoon
When fishing for Carp you MUST have the following:
An adequate landing net designed specifically for Specimen fish
An un-hooking mat specifically designed for the purpose that should be at least 36inch X 24inch in size
A suitable sling to safely weigh and transport fish back to the water
An approved fish antiseptic for treatment of hook marks or abrasions
We expect anyone fishing for Carp on our water to do so with respect for all species of fish. eg, we do not expect bream to be ‘winched’ across the Lagoon.
The following rules however apply specifically to Carp fishing: - All carp are to be unhooked either in a Landing net in the water or on a suitable un-hooking mat.
- All carp are to be treated with an approved antiseptic when required.
- When weighing carp a suitable net or sling shoud be used and should only be lifted above an un-hooking mat.
- All carp are to returned to the water from the lowest
- possible point available ensuring that the fish has fully recovered before release.
- No carp over 5lb are to be retained in any keep net.
- No Carp Sacks allowed under any circumstances
- The nature of the far bank side of the lake makes a great environment for carp to inhabit, however, we do appreciate it can make fishing difficult. Please be sensible when fishing near to trees, bushes and other snags.
- All mainline and leader materials should have a maximum breaking strain of 12lb.
- Leaders/Hooklengths must have a smaller breaking strain than mainline.
- No Lead Core of any description.
- No Bait boats allowed of any kind.
- When constructing Rigs, please bear in mind the large number of small carp in the water and follow these rules.
- No Hooks larger than size 6 to be used at any time.
- No so-called “ 360° Rig”
- No TETHER/DEATH rigs - YOU WILL BE BANNED
- No BOILIES
- No NUTS of any kind
